Berwick residents, visitors and holidaymakers will have an unique opportunity to see the town and the lower reaches of the Tweed from a completely new perspective on the late May Bank Holiday Sunday (May 28th) when the Friends of the Union Chain Bridge have arranged a day of helicopter flights.

The 12-minute flights, starting from the Chain Bridge Honey Farm, will follow the course of the river to Tweedmouth and Berwick, taking in the harbour and estuary, returning upriver past Paxton and the Union Bridge to Norham village and Castle, before returning to the Union Bridge, where passengers will be able to enjoy drinks in the After Flight Tent Bar.

Friends trustee, Tommy Cockburn of Horncliffe, who is organising the pleasure flights, said “This is a once-in- a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy the thrill of a helicopter ride and experience the local area – town, coast, river and countryside – from a completely new perspective – it would make a never-to-be-forgotten gift for relatives, children or grandchildren.”

Flight bookings, at £90, are now being taken on a first-come, first-served basis – telephone Tommy on 01289 382890 for further details.
