Hunting Hall Farm
Discover a holiday to treasure at Hunting Hall Farm’s award-winning, green holiday cottages and luxurious shepherd’s hut.
This picture book-pretty, award-winning farm is tucked away in the beautiful countryside of North Northumberland near the holy island of Lindisfarne. Hunting Hall is a small family farm with lots of animals to see; a Saddleback sow with piglets playing hide-and-seek in straw, two friendly donkeys, sheep grazing in organic meadows, and hens, geese and peacocks pecking in the traditional farmyard.
Our two beautiful, Grade II listed, stone cottages have been lovingly restored and are looked after with a great deal of care. In 2016 we were proud to gain a ROSE award from Visit Britain in recognition of our service excellence.
The Fuffins, part of the original Georgian farmhouse, offers gentle green luxury in tranquil surroundings. Old-fashioned features, carefully preserved, include an inglenook-sized fireplace with open stove, exposed beams and an antique roll-top bath. We’ve added a lovely spacious pine kitchen with French doors leading to almost an acre of garden. There are two single beds in the Butterfly Bedroom whilst a heavy pine king-sized bed dominates the main bedroom.
Newt Cottage is a Victorian farm worker’s cottage with a wonderful traditional atmosphere enhanced by the original range with an open fire and exposed beams. The cottage has two sunny bedrooms; one has a double bed, the other two singles. It has a picturesque secluded country garden.
The Hunting Hall Shepherd’s Hut is a magical little home in the heart of nature. With en-suite shower room, fully equipped kitchen, underfloor and electric radiator heating and a log burning stove, the shepherd’s hut has everything you need for a cosy, special stay. It stands in a young orchard on the edge of organic grassland where sheep graze with beautiful views across the Kyloe Hills.
All beds have deep feather duvets and pillows dressed with organic cotton bed linen. Towels are also organic cotton. At Hunting Hall we use only green energy and natural products, caring for people and our planet.
We’ve won many awards for our environmental work at Hunting Hall and the farm is a haven for wildlife. Several footpaths and a farm trail meander through organic meadows to a bird hide, community orchard, pond and woodland so you can explore this beautiful countryside. In 2013 Hunting Hall was delighted to win the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Farming and Land Management Award for Excellence and gain a ‘Highly Commended’ in the RSPB Nature of Farming Awards. In 2018 we won the North East Rural Award for Farming and the Environment.
A holiday at Hunting Hall offers a wonderful diverse landscape to explore. The Holy Island Causeway, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is only five miles away and there are long stretches of deserted sandy beaches with the dramatic coastal castles of Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Warkworth and Dunstanburgh. Inland, towards the Cheviot Hills, the countryside becomes much wilder and there are some breathtaking walks through valleys and over heather topped hillsides. Northumberland has bustling market towns, picturesque villages, stately homes and museums. National Cycle Network Route 1 and The St. Cuthbert’s Way lie only 2 miles away, so it’s a perfect base for walkers and cyclists. We hope visitors to Hunting Hall will discover the wonderful natural heritage of North Northumberland. It's a very special place for a holiday!
