The Tour of Britain, the UK’s biggest professional cycle race and largest free to spectate event, is
coming to Berwick-upon-Tweed on Monday 9 th September. For the first time ever, Berwick-upon-
Tweed is hosting a stage start and there’s a programme of free events planned on Sunday 8 th &
Monday 9th September to celebrate this world class sporting event. Start planning your visit now!
From early morning on Monday 9 th September, stroll around the streets savouring the atmosphere
as tension mounts before Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain race starts at 11am from Marygate. See
competitors being interviewed prior to the race, watch final adjustments to bikes and wander
among tv crews setting up for their live broadcasts. Where will you watch the ride out – Marygate,
Hide Hill, Bridge Street or the Old Bridge?
On the afternoon of Sunday 8 th September, our cycling fun will begin at 2pm on The Parade Car Park,
right next to the Food & Beer Festival. The bike related mayhem continues on Monday 9 th
September from 9am, down on the Quayside. Whether you feel like testing yourself against the
pros or simply sampling the specially commissioned beer, there is something for everyone!
How about a time challenge? Or how much power can you generate? Active Northumberland will
be on site with static bikes to test your strength and speed. Can you win? Prizes for the best on the
If you’re feeling like a healthy drink, get on your bike and make it! We’ve got smoothie bikes and
lots of lovely fresh fruit – you just need to get peddling to power the blender, pour into a glass and
enjoy. Are you strong enough?
Fancy something a little more relaxing? Kick back with a drink while you watch all the live action
from the Tour of Britain on the Big Screen.
Have a wander around the cycle displays, from vintage through to cutting edge, and brush up on
your bike repair skills, against the clock, while you’re here. There’s also a treasure hunt around town
to keep little ones busy.
And there’s more! Head down to the Quayside on Monday and you’ll find lots of bike related
activities, the big screen showing live race footage, delicious food and drink options and a market to
browse around.

On Sunday 8 th find us on The Parade Car Park from 2pm and on Monday 9 th September we’ll be on
the Quayside from 9am. Come along and experience the Tour of Britain in Berwick-upon-Tweed!

storage facility if you’re cycling.
