Ieva Dubova is a pianist, composer, and neurodivergent artist currently pursuing a PhD in Practical Composition at the University of Leeds. Her work reinterprets Gregorian chant within contemporary instrumental composition and often bridges traditional notation, electronics, and graphic scores.

Ieva’s projects and scores are held in UK collections including the Lit & Phil (Newcastle), with additional holdings at the Jerwood Library (Trinity Laban) and the British Library. Her music has featured on BBC Radio 3 (Classical Piano Focus), and she performs and composes widely in the UK and internationally. An active collaborator, she has undertaken residencies as both composer and pianist and frequently performs live improvisations for 1920s silent films.

Her current work also reflects a long‑standing interest in Japanese contemporary music and visual culture. A new graphic score, Pærasyth—drawing on neume‑inspired notation and graphic novels to explore interior experience—will be premiered at the Newcastle Piano Festival (22nd of March 2026).

Alongside her creative practice, Ieva performs regularly, adjudicates piano competitions and maintains a small private teaching studio; her students have achieved successes in national competitions, diploma exams, and scholarship routes.

Accessibility

As part of our ongoing commitment to making music accessible to all, we are letting in all under 18s free for all our shows. Young people can order a ticket online free of charge or simply turn up on the day of the concert. We all appreciate some music lovers may find the £10 ticket price prohibitive. If you do, email info@berwickmusic.org in complete confidence. We want as many people as possible to celebrate music with our brilliantly talented performers. We are able to do this thanks to funding support from the Community Foundation North East.
