Sunday Makers Markets are a new monthly event at Etal Village Hall, Ford and Etal, Northumberland, held on the first Sunday of each month (not June), April to October.

These events complement our Art at Etal Wednesdays and have more of a farmers’ market vibe because they include some artisan food producers, such as bread, jams, chocolate and honey products. They will also showcase the work of local, artisan makers, using traditional skills in a contemporary way.

Every month will be different, because we want local people to return every month to meet these local creatives, who are all small, independent businesses. We will have a huge variety of skills on show, from glassblowing and ceramics to textile art… some of our makers use wools from their own sheep and alpacas to weave or hand-loom into beautiful items or willows grown locally to weave into baskets and other wares.

We will also have a smaller percentage of artists with smaller works such as collage, printmaking and illustration.

There will often be free demonstrations during the day, so just drop in anytime to catch some of them at work.

There is much more to do as part of your visit to our events at Etal, including two castles, three beautiful tearooms across Ford and Etal estate, a railway for riverside rides from Heatherslaw to Etal, riverside walks, Lady Waterford Hall museum, vintage shops, a working flour mill museum, heavy horse farm and visitors centre, various artists and potters studios. See Ford and Etal website for more info about the Estates.
