Film Night at Barrels Ale House: 2001: A Space Odyssey

Our next Sound & Vision Film Night will be on Sunday 17^th May at 7pm, at the Barrels Alehouse, Bridge St, and will be ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, directed by Stanley Kubrick.

I think I’m safe in describing this as a genuine classic of cinema; even if you’re not a fan of sci-fi, it’s hard not to be impressed by the visual experimentation of this film. Loosely based on a short story by Arthur C. Clarke, this is partly Kubrick’s attempt to portray space travel as realistically as possible, and partly an examination of humanity’s place in the cosmos. Or something…
