FILM: ‘The Favourite’ (2018)

Sound & Vision Film Night – the next film showing will be ‘The Favourite’ (2018) on Sun. 11th January, at 7pm in the Barrels Alehouse. Set in the early 18th century, it stars Olivia Colman on top form (has she any other?) as England’s Queen Anne, with great performances from Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz as two courtiers desperately trying to outdo each other, vying for the Queen’s favour.

Often bawdy, sometimes brutally sad, but very funny and with razor-sharp dialogue throughout, this is a period drama with a difference.
