FILM: Whiskey Galore Film @ Barrels Ale House

Our next film will be ‘Whisky Galore’ (the original from 1949) at 7pm on Sunday 1^st February, in the Barrels Alehouse. It’s based on the book of the same name (itself based on real events), about a ship carrying thousands of cases of whisky which runs aground off a small island in the Outer Hebrides, and the endeavours of the islanders to salvage what they can, and of the local Home Guard to foil them. A classic Ealing Studios comedy, admittedly with Scottish stereotypes and dodgy accents aplenty, but I think it’s charming, and hopefully will help warm a few hearts.

Free entry, free popcorn, but cash-only donations very welcome.
