Join us for a communal haiku walk (ginko), a traditional Japanese way to help writers with focus and inspiration.
Led by poet, Chris Jupp, we will walk slowly and attentively, opening our senses to what is around us, taking notes as we go. In advance of the walk participants will receive an introduction to contemporary haiku writing in English covering traditional nature haiku, haiku with a climate change theme and speculative haiku, sometimes called scifiku.
After the walk, we will return to the Sci-fi Scriptorium to review our notes and draft some haiku intending to share and workshop them.
Meet at 30 Hide Hill at 2 pm. Come prepared for one hour of gentle walking with some rest stops.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear, and bring a bottle of water.
