This year marks the 80th anniversary of VE day. Berwick Town Council is co-ordinating the town’s celebrations with the help of many volunteer organisations to mark the occasion.

Timings for the Day

The Royal British Legion has come up with a basic running order for the day that Berwick will be following – please see below.

9.00am Proclamation and raising of flag. Town Hall Steps
9.15am Flags marched to Holy Trinity Church Town Hall – Holy Trinity Via Church Street
2.00pm Memorial Service. Holy Trinity Church
6.30pm Bells Ring in Celebration Town Hall/Holy Trinity Church
9.30pm Lighting of the Beacon Windmill Bastion, Elizabethan Walls

There are many events taking place around VE Day, and details of these can be found on our social media.

The church service is taking place at 2 pm at Holy Trinity Church with music from the Berwick Concert Band starting at 1.45. For those that cannot attend the service, it is being live-streamed on https://youtube.com/@holytrinityberwick/streams
