Between April and September there is only one place to be at 7pm on a Saturday night … cheering the Bandits.
Since 1968 fans have flocked to Shielfield Park to watch Berwick Bandits take on Britain’s elite in the adrenaline-pumping sport of speedway one of the most extreme forms of motorsport in the world.
Four modern-day gladiators on motorcycles which accelerate faster than a Formula one car doing battle just feet away from the crowd – there’s nothing quite like speedway.
A cosmopolitan mix of riders from around the world put their bodies on the line as they battle it out on one of the sport’s fastest tracks.
Speedway is a sport for all the family – accompanied under-16s go free – with many of our fans having an affinity to the club stretching back to that opening night against Newcastle in 1968, watching with new generations gripped by the spectacle.
Facilities include a 1,400 seater main stand, covered accommodation, concrete terracing and elevated banking. There are also two licensed bars and a takeaway restaurant on site.
Car parking is free and details of fixtures and how to buy tickets – you can also pay cash on the night – are available from the club’s website.
