Explore Berwick with our packed programme of free events for visitors and locals this September.

Berwick-upon-Tweed Heritage Open Days is a free annual heritage festival that brings the town’s rich past to life. Go on guided walks with our local experts to hear how people in the town lived in years gone by, visit buildings that are normally closed to the public and venture inside the Elizabethan walls to appreciate the very fabric of our wonderful town.

This is the perfect time for tourists to visit the town as they can take the opportunity to discover more than normal about our historic and unique town. Locals can also enjoy what we have to offer by visiting sites that are only opened once a year for Heritage Open Days or learning more about places they walk past every day.

Events take place in Berwick, Tweedmouth and Spittal and some of our favourite open venues from the past few years have included; The Gunpowder Magazine, the old Border Brewery cellars on Silver Street, the Old Gaol in the Town Hall, Berwick Lifeboat Station and Bankhill Ice House. Explore these and much more this September.
