Discover art you love
The Tin Shed has been showcasing northern art and design since 2013.

Our high quality events regularly pop-up at incredible venues across the North of England and Scottish Borders, bringing together the best of Northern and Scottish artists and makers. The aim is to help make art and design more accessible to everyone.

We are really excited to be returning to Ayton Castle near Eyemouth with Art in the Castle. We staged our first event in this beautiful space in 2022, so are hoping this year’s exhibition will be even more successful.

We’ll be showcasing the work of around 20 artists and makers at the two-day event, throughout the castle’s four main public rooms. Most of the work will be available to buy. There’ll also be demonstrations by weaver Janis Embleton.

Ayton Castle is still a private family home and rarely opens to the pubic, so this is a great opportunity to visit this amazing space.

The castle’s own contemporary art collection will also be on display, including work by renowned Scottish artist John Bellany who was from nearby Eyemouth.
The Castle’s diesel engine will be running through the grounds for rides and the cafe will also be open.

Entry to the castle and art exhibition is free.

Donations towards the castle’s walled garden restoration are welcome.

Tickets for the train, which runs approximately every 15 mins, can be purchased from the booth at Eyemouth Road station, where there is also parking. The train travels through the castle’s grounds before reaching Castle Halt, giving access to our exhibition, cafe and toilets.

There is also limited parking on the road in front of the castle for those who don’t want to take the train.
