Explore private gardens around Berwick and enjoy our historic walled town as you wander.

For one weekend only, private gardens across Berwick open their doors to visitors. From formal gardens to rewilded spaces and bijou patios to larger rewilding projects, there’s planting and landscaping inspiration galore at this most social of festivals. Chat with garden owners, chill in the many gardens that offer refreshments, and catch up with friends old and new. Twenty-four gardens of all shapes, sizes and styles opened around the town in 2023.

2024 is the ninth Open Gardens. The festival is the main fundraising event of the Friends of Castle Parks and funds the work the volunteer group does to maintain and enhance key parks in Berwick through gardening (alongside NCC’s parks officer), purchasing plants and equipment for the parks, and putting on free family events in them.

Full details available of ticket pre-sales and all gardens open nearer the event on Friends of Castle Parks website.

Tickets available in advance from Berwick Visitor Centre and Geo. C. Grieve Stationers and on the day at Castle Vale Park (Lily Pond)
